Dr. David Planchard is a thoracic oncologist and Professor who heads the Thoracic Group in the Department of Medical Oncology at Gustave Roussy in Villejuif, France, and chairs its International Centre for Thoracic Cancers. His clinical and translational work focuses on non-small cell lung cancer, pleural mesothelioma and thymic tumours, with expertise in predictive biomarkers, targeted therapy and immunotherapy for oncogene-driven disease.
He led the pivotal phase II trials of dabrafenib plus trametinib that established BRAF/MEK inhibition in BRAF V600E-mutant NSCLC, and contributes to research on HER2-directed therapies and antibody-drug conjugates. He coordinated the ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines for metastatic NSCLC and belongs to ESMO, ASCO, AACR and the French thoracic oncology intergroup (IFCT).
